Why good marketing strategy is NOT beyond the reach of small business.

​It’s a common misconception that good marketing needs a big budget to achieve successful outcomes.  Now if you’re a major corporation with a big brand and a national foot print that’s probably a fairly accurate statement.  After all, achieving strong marketing outcomes across multiple markets in Australia needs a big budget and a big strategy. If in doubt just ask the likes of McDonalds, Bunnings, Qantas, and other big brand players in the Aussie market.

​But, let’s change focus and look at small business whose needs are different to the big brand players.  
I’m going to generalise a bit here, so bear with me, but many small business owners target their businesses towards particular interests, or demographics, or simply service a defined customer base, locality, suburb or town.  So, their marketing strategy needs to be focused in that direction.  That’s where good strategy comes to the fore. 

Having a road map or blueprint to guide the small business owner in their marketing and growth strategies, is essential to maintaining good control over financial budgets whilst achieving measurable outcomes in new leads, and sales. 

A good marketing plan is worth the investment and will return dividends in spades!  A professional marketing consultant will assist the small business owner to develop that effective strategy, and then lead its implementation, or hand it over for the owner to drive.  Like any product or service, you have the option of buying the basic item and then add in extra options depending on your budget or available time. 

Simply spraying money at different ideas and advertising options isn’t going to deliver good consistent results.  An effective marketing strategy will look at your target market, and the outcomes you are seeking to develop a clear road map forward.  A small business will not need a marketing plan with the complexity, length, and strategies on par with major corporations, so, you shouldn’t be paying for the expensive gold-plated version.  Lower cost and targeted strategy does not mean poor outcomes!  Whether you implement your own marketing strategy, or rely on a marketing consultant such as Present Professionally, will depend on your available budget and whether you can devote the necessary time to drive the project. 

Either way, good marketing strategy is NOT beyond the reach of small business owners.
